METHODS OF EVALUATION
EvalAccess provides you three methods for evaluating the Accessibility of a web page
Method 1: Evaluate Remote File
This method allows you on-line evaluation of the accessibility of a web page. You can also configure the options “Errors” and “Warnings” for visualizing the non-satisfied guidelines according to the levels of correction priority. You must introduce the URL of each Web page in the text box. After that, you have to press the “Evaluate” button for visualizing the results of the accessibility evaluation of your web page. Repeat the process for each web page of a web site.
Method 2: Evaluate Local File
This method allows you evaluating the accessibility of a web page that is stored in a local file of the system. You can also configure the options “Errors” and “Warnings” for visualizing the non-satisfied guidelines according to the levels of correction priority. You must type the path of the file on the text box or use the button “Examine” to search for it. After that, you have to press the “Evaluate” button for visualizing the results of the accessibility evaluation of your file. Repeat the process for each file related to a web site.
Method 3: Evaluate HTML Source Code
This method allows you evaluating the accessibility of a web page by means of its HTML code. You can also configure the options “Errors” and “Warnings” for visualizing the non-satisfied guidelines according to the levels of correction priority. To evaluate the accessibility of a HTML source code, you have to insert the code on the text area. After that, press the button “Evaluate” for visualizing the results of the accessibility evaluation of your HTML code. Repeat the process for the code related to each web page of a web site.
.
VISUALIZATION OF RESULTS
Following any of the three methods, once pressed the “Evaluate” button, Evaliris will show you a table with the non-satisfied guidelines according to the type of errors and/or warnings and levels of correction priority.
These results will be displayed in two formats:
Resume Report
Each cell of the table expresses the number of errors and/or warnings of a given level of priority, which are not satisfied in the evaluated web page (or file or source code). If you want more information of each non-satisfied guideline, you may click over the number.
.
Detailed Report for each level of Priority
The detailed information has the following format:
· number of the guideline and its checkpoint,
· description of the checkpoint,
· name of the attribute that has to appear or has the error/warning,
· URL of the guideline in the W3C page where this guideline is explained,
· list of numbers referring to the lines where this error/warning has been detected.
To start a new evaluation or select again the evaluation method implies that the previous evaluations are lost. To prevent this, it is recommended that the last evaluation is stored or printed.
If you want to save or print the results, you must use the save and print options of your browser.
